Job Summary:
The Application Business Analyst at DQE Communications will provide analytical, documentation, and coordination support for the applications portfolio. The Business Analyst will assist with gathering requirements, documenting workflows, coordinating user acceptance testing, and supporting Agile/SCRUM methodologies. Must be local to the Pittsburgh area. Hybrid Work Environment.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist in collecting and documenting business and functional requirements from stakeholders.
  • Create process maps, data flow diagrams, swim lanes and user stories under the guidance of the Product Owner.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for applications and processes.
  • Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Help maintain the product backlog and track progress in Jira or similar tools.
  • Support the Product Owner with meeting notes and follow-up actions.
  • Assist in preparing test cases, executing user acceptance testing (UAT), and documenting results.
  • Identify and track defects, ensuring they are addressed prior to production deployment.
  • Run queries and compile reports to support decision-making and application performance monitoring.
  • Assist in gathering and analyzing KPIs for application usage and performance.
  • Work closely with the Product Owner, Director of Applications, and contractor teams to support project deliverables.
  • Provide administrative and coordination support for vendor and contractor activities.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Telecom industry knowledge or exposure to OSS/BSS systems is a plus.
  • Experience with Agile methodology preferred.
  • Basic understanding of enterprise applications and databases.
  • Experience in writing SQL to pull raw data for analysis and report modeling.
  • Experience with data warehouse methodologies; data modeling to Power BI reporting
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, GitHub or other Agile tools is helpful.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 1–3 years of experience in a business analysis, applications support, or IT role (internship or project-based experience acceptable).
