Job Summery:
The Provisioning Specialist will be responsible for the end-to-end provisioning, testing, and activation of data, internet, and transport services within DQE Communications' network. This role includes configuring and cross-connecting network elements, coordinating provisioning and testing activities with internal teams and external partners, and ensuring seamless service delivery to meet critical timelines. In addition, the role provides troubleshooting support for network services escalated by the NOC and participates in a rotating on-call schedule to ensure reliable after-hours support.

This role includes configuring and cross-connecting network elements, coordinating provisioning and testing activities with internal teams and external partners, and ensuring seamless service delivery to meet critical timelines. In addition, the role provides troubleshooting support for network services escalated by the NOC and participates in a rotating on-call schedule to ensure reliable after-hours support.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Perform provisioning, testing and activation of data, internet and transport services.
- Perform circuit provisioning through the cross-connection of transport network equipment.
- Perform Layer 2 provisioning through Ethernet switch network elements.
- Coordinate circuit provisioning and remote testing activities with field operations, vendors, business partners and customers, including after-hour hot cuts to meet customers' critical dates and maintenance window policies.
- Configure Juniper and Cisco routers and switches, optical transport equipment. Operate the appropriate test equipment.
- Trouble-shoot network services as calls come into the DQE NOC.
- This position includes “on call” responsibilities. Members of the “on call” schedule rotate on a weekly basis to provide after hours assistance for support tickets that have been escalated by the DQE NOC. On average, members are on call once every 8-10 weeks.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of implementation and troubleshooting optical transport equipment
- Knowledge of provisioning or maintaining electrical transport services and working knowledge of data, Ethernet and IP services
- Possess strong awareness of network and customer information security. Demonstrate understanding of common network records processes and procedures. Strong attention to detail and situational awareness.
Education and Experience:
- 1+ years of relevant experience.
- Network Certification (e.g. Cisco CCNA or Juniper JNCIA) is a plus
